Drill Now. Drill Here. Pay Less.

A Real Change Campaign to Lower Your Gas Prices, from American Solutions

Sign this petition to urge Congress to support Real Change for Gasoline prices.

Consider the following:

· The average price for a gallon of gas is now $3.72, this is $.61 higher than a year ago.

· In the wake of higher gasoline prices, Congress must act to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. The U.S. Congress has acted, but in the wrong direction. Last week, the Senate voted narrowly against reversing a moratorium on oil-shale development.

· Federal officials and industry experts estimate that up to 1.8 trillion barrels of oil is trapped in the region's oil shale, or three times the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia.

· Laws and policies that restrict access to America’s abundant energy drive up the price of fuel and electricity. They cause widespread layoffs and leave workers and families struggling to survive, as the cost of everything they eat, drive, wear and do spirals higher.

Why don't they open the Alaskan pipe line
instead of buying our oil from Iroc and
selling oil from Alaska to China & Japan

I am tired of liberals telling me what to eat, drink, drive, think, wear a helmet, wear a seat belt, they care more about trees, fish, and carbon credits than people. Why dont they just live their lives and mind their own business. Just think how nice america would be win no liberals

We must vote these scumbags out of office, NOW. Check their record, and if they are NOT willing to lift moratorium on off shore drilling, kick them out. Don't keep re-electing them. They are arrogant and do not believe they will not be re-elected.

They are deliberately delaying until Presidential election is over, hoping for Obama to win, and then they will block all hope for any drilling for oil.

Come on America, we can do this. Keep the pressure on them, all of them. Write to them via Congress.org web site. Call them, let them know just exactly how you feel. They must be reminded that they work for us, not we for them.

VOTE THESE BUMS OUT

i have taken a good look around...for 35 years we have tried it "your way". what has this gotten us? $4.20 a gallon gasoline...layoffs galore...stock market plummeting...airlines in crisis mode. so you liberals think that your "solutions" are the way to go eh? we think your nuts! take your communistic global warming policies elsewhere on the planet and let us know when india and china sign on to self destruction policies like the usa has. no one believes global warming is real..not even al gore..who is flying around the planet, spewing out tons of pollutants from his personal jet..and living the lavish lifesyle of a sultan. the planet has been here for billions of years, been hit with asteroids..meteors..sun spots..earthquakes and tidal waves.. and you think we can destroy it with global warming..excuse me but we think you are pompous asses if you think we are more powerful than nature...think about it..we are a drop in the bucket..compared to earth itself. earth will be here billions of years from now..you won't

By Anonymous @ Wednesday, July 02, 2008 7:56 AM
yea i heard about that new jet that runs on wood chips...get real..all of that is great, but we CAN drill our way out. but because of people like you we stopped drilling 35 years ago and NOW we have this problem. so if we kept on drilling back then we would not have the economic disaster we face TODAY. you and your solar..wind ..nonsense is the exact source of this great countries problems. we need energy NOW..it is under our feet...we are the only country on the planet that is sitting on top of billions of barrels of it, but refuse to go get it because of a polar bear or caribou..or hoot owl. since when is that more important than my children. get your priorities straigtened out or move to denmark

By Anonymous @ Wednesday, July 02, 2008 2:34 AM
It appears the oil patch is winning. If one honestly looks at the global consumption of oil, you will quickly see that there is no way we can drill our way out of this mess. But that is not what the oil industry wants to hear.
Instead of poking endless holes all over the world, we need to use all of the alternative energy sources we have right now. The combination of wind, solar, geothermal and tidal waves alone could replace the fossil fuels we are burning now. Let alone cover the new increases in energy we will need. Nuclear waste still is a problem!
It is real shame that Americans can not kick the fossil fuel habit.

By Anonymous @ Wednesday, June 25, 2008 5:03 PM
lately im hearing from lefty's that drilling now will not have any affect for up to 30 years, which of course is a blatent lie. but if it were true, are the lefty's no longer worried about our childrens future!? of course drilling now will make an immediate difference now. it will scare the @#$%! out of speculators and they'll move their money elsewhere and oil prices will drop immediately. that's all

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, June 17, 2008 10:07 PM
Thank you Newt for taking this issue which could be the beginning of something very good for this country in 2008 and beyond.

May America wake up and realize how insane we are to vote for a congress who is attached to a Communist-lite ideology which IS the problem NOT the solution.

A grassroot movement needs to go to 'Republican' and 'Democratic' Conventions to demand that "T H E
I N S A N I T Y E N D N O W !"

The House will be Cleaned in BOTH parties if they do not STOP playing 'delusional politics' and START making decisions that are in the best interest of the survival of the Republic long-term.

Sane, sustainable change involves:

1. Energy Independence (Drill Now, Innovate and Conserve).

2. Demand accountability for a Supreme Court that is both usurping the Constituation and threatening domestic security.

3. Time for Courts to STOP making America a 'Brave New World' of Non-reality thru Gay Marriage.

4. Hold the present Federal Congress accountable for wasting precious tax dollars and time on frivolous investigations and oversight. We need to be better spending our time and money on the solving the real problems of this country.

If something isn't done soon, many of us living here will feel like we lost our own country, will have to find another 'Mayflower' and re-start the experiment of self-government some where else that is more receptive to its principles.

Yes, Newt. It is getting this bad.

Thank you for this valuable forum.

By Anonymous @ Friday, June 13, 2008 12:01 AM
Newt. who will speak for the American people? Its obvious to me that our current rep's speak for the special interest groups. I think the problem that the majority of people have is no one speaks plain english. We've lost the ability to say what we mean and mean what we say. Everytime the people vote and voice the will of the majority, and that vote isn't what the special interest groups want, they just go to like minded judges who over turns the vote of the people. Again, I ask who will speak for the people?

By Anonymous @ Thursday, June 12, 2008 11:41 PM
I was just listening to the radio and Glen Beck reports that a committee has voted down drilling off of our costs (East or West) Glenn said that he would post the names of the commitee members who voted it down (all Democrats). The reason they gave: They just don't think it is needed. Is it time to get out the pitch-forks. Not hard to understand where their heads are at. Who do these people represen, and why are they still in office.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, June 12, 2008 3:31 PM
I'm in my early 60s and have perceived Congress to be disconnected from daily American life. This gas price increase demonstrates how egregious the disconnect is. DO SOMETHING!! 10, 20, or 30 years ago (1973/9 gas crunches! was the time to get going. Congress should be fired but they won't let themselves be.

we really do need a march in washington dc to show strength and unity. the senate and congress are stuck on stupid for the last 35 years..it is time for a wake up call from the citizens of the united states of america. if we could mobilize a few million people and state a protest on the 4th of july in dc that would get plenty of attention focused on this most important of all issues. our future depends on oil..at least the next 20 years, so until some other realistic form of energy is invented..oil is the most important thing in our lives. any attention drawn to this issue in the mainstream media is necessary to get things moving in the right direction

By Anonymous @ Saturday, June 07, 2008 9:08 AM
This country needs another Will Rogers (Newt). Lets see, I've heard that the Dems. are punishing a couple of states that didn,t do as they were instructed so their votes were not counted. Hmmmm is that the American Way? So using that logic are the Dems punishing the American people for voting them out of office before they retook the congress? I'm just saying! This would explain why 11/2 years after Dems took back the Majority there is still nothing getting done. Wake Up Folks! Newt. I think you are a remarkable person but it takes more than one. People we need to get behind this movement. Let be responsible in our actions but we need to act. Will D.

Let them rely on these simple minded tactics. Present the facts, be kind, and you will win people over. All we need it to change 1 mind and that 1 will change 4-8 others. The results will be amazing. We also need to get some "mainstream" media attention..Well organized CIVIL rallies would be very effective. If you know any truck drivers, traveling sales people, soccer moms who are just sick of IT!! Contact them..email me so that we can organize these rallies on the same date across the country. We must have our voices heard.

In the 50's President Eisenhower pushed hard and got the Interstate Highway System. Could you imagine where we would be without it today? But, with the state of traffic gridlock, the airlines, and the cost of driving, what's the feasibility of a modern national rail system that could cut our oil consumption immensely? I think it could be enourmously successful..dh

Their greed and gambling on the price of oil has driven it up. How about basing the price on what it costs to drill and produce instead of speculation?

We've been silent to long. "Now is the time for All good people to come to the aid of this great country". I for one get tired of our vote being over turned by our courts. Enough is Enough. It's time to take our country back from people in this country that wish to do harm to our nation. Lets drill where ever we need to and lets do it now!

By Anonymous @ Friday, May 30, 2008 11:31 PM
Signed and will have family sign as well. My wife overheard some young 20 somthng coworkers complain about how Bush has caused the price of oil to soar and because of him they are having to cut back. My wife corrected them about who is really making the money off the oil and why we are sitting on our own oil reserves. Our biggest challange is to get these young idiots to get a mind of their own and not to just swallow the BS they are taught in school or hear on TV. I believe in tough love not bailing out idiots who can't tell the difference between a variable and fixed rate loan. Screw the Polar bears make rugs out of them all.

By Anonymous @ Friday, May 30, 2008 9:34 PM
If Newt wants to lead the charge for more opportunities to explore for energy resources, fine.

I recall him expressing his belief in the man-made global warming hoax, too.

If American Solutions is his new springboard for a lobby advocating government involvment in saving the Polar Bear thru Carbon sequestration or the like, I don't want any part of it.

In fact, I don't trust Newt's motivations these days and I'll not be helping to fund American Solutions until I know more about what he's up to.

Why the anonymous postings? Is everyone afraid to attach a name to a statement? The first posting I read is typical of what is wrong in America. Blaming wall street for the price of oiol. How idiotic and typically the remark of a socialist liberal. Put the blame where it belongs!! Right at the feet of the stinkin socialist libs that have prevented drilling in the USA for the last 12 years. Yes, lets include all of Congress as the Republicans are just as bad if not worse than the Democrats. This is one reason I am no longer a Republican and will not contribute 1 cent until people with some sense, dignity and honesty start running for Congress. Are you listening Newt?

By Anonymous @ Friday, May 30, 2008 5:36 PM
ANWR is one solution but clearly today's oil prices are a threat to the Economic National Security of the USA is at stake due to energy manipulation/crisis, all started by Wallstreet. Investing is not profitable enough so they have to game the system with crimes against the people!!!

Arjun N. Murti of Goldman Sachs is the Henry Boldget of oil manipulation!!!
Same manipulation game as the tech/internet bubble. This time they've hyped demand numbers and changed the formulas! Notice how they never talk about the 11 million barrels a day potential coming out of Iraq or how about Petrobras big oil find. No wallstreet wants highe rprices because they make more money, how much more, Google It! GoldmanSachs profits are up 66% because of energy trading and the wall street boys are telling us they have done nothing wrong. Congress knows better, we need a good Democrat to solve the crisis and return oil prices to lower levels. Afte Bush took office oil prices dropped to below $19 a barrel and its been happy days for Bus and Cheney and Halliburton every since................ while we get raped at the pump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Million Gallon March? We can get at least a million gallons of gas a day from ANWR. If a super large number of people could organize and rally for drilling in ANWR we could get the attention of Congress. How about Saturday July 5th, our second Independence Day, as in, independence from foreign oil day. All over the country people could gather in their town square or other highly visible locations and hold peaceful rallies and carry fact based signs to drown out the B.S. from the other side. Could it work? Who could organize such a thing?

By Anonymous @ Thursday, May 29, 2008 11:41 AM
I heard that the "winfall profits" that the oils companies have made is only about 7%. That does not seem to be that big. The average stock portfolio or 401-k should average about 15% profit over its life time. I like Rush Limbaugh's take on it. Why can't the government give us a gasoline tax holiday until 2010 when the hydrogen fuel cells will be available and the oil companies could get more refinaries built? Isn't that aboiut $.60 a gallon? Taxing the oil companies will do harm. They will pass the additional cost of the tax on to us. That is not helping. I say untie their hands.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, May 29, 2008 11:33 AM
I heard of the "Glen Beck Show" that There recently was a large find in North Dakota. It is rediculous that we are so dependent upon other countries, who may or may not be friendly to the U.S., to sell us what we need. The price of Gasoline touches every facet of American life and pocket book.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, May 29, 2008 7:31 AM

Newt, thank you for trying.

It seems that the Republican party has been overtaken by...Democrats?

They spend like 'em, pander to the fantasy masquerading as science that is modern environmentalism (can anyone remember phrenology?) like them, and they offer only babble in times of crisis like the limp left has in the past. -They desert any course that is unpopular, aside from those that line their pockets or boost their egos. Where have all the Republicans gone? -to abuse a hackneyed folk song.

Shall we let them sell our country out from under us, or will we return to the principles that made the party and this country great? I have to say that I have little hope, right now, because I listen to so many people eating up the drivel that pawns itself off as 'news' these days. -Few people asking the hard questions, or bothering to think about what they are being told. I am constantly astonished by the level of brainwashing I witness in people that I thought were otherwise intelligent:

I listened to a spiel from somebody I knew well, about the dangers of global warming when he heard that I was undecided about the matter and doubting that man was the culprit if it were happening. I thanked him and asked him the question that has plagued me since I first heard of it, "So, let me get this straight: You take seriously the predictions of the weather in ten or twenty years from a bunch of people who can't reliably predict tomorrow's weather? -And you think that CO2 is the number one greenhouse gas, when water vapor is by a factor of about 23 to 1?" He replied that I had been deluded by the right wing machine.....

Do you ever want to give up, Newt?

Please keep on fighting. -Maybe reason will someday win out.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, May 29, 2008 12:50 AM
PLEASE spare us ....

Just saw NEWT on Hannity, can no one speak the truth to us, not even Mr. Gingrich...

If the 3 possible choices left for American voters don't demostrate that this whole system needs to go, I shudder to think what will come along to make that happen but my guess is Pres. Obama.

The # 1 priority of any human system(if not all sytems) is to survive - self perpetuate - NOT "do the right thing" or do what is good for us - the people-
One historical figure comes to mind who did the right thing for his people- Julius Caesar- and before him- Sulla Felix gave it a hell of a shot, until he realized he couldn't kill all the corrupt senators ,,, so he "retired" to his villa ...what political leader today is even close to that kind of thinking - the people first - or Military leader either - sadly they are all products of the same corrupt system- American "democracy" the joke of the planet...

Energy independence, yes. Drill for oil, yes. Utilize nuclear power, yes. And use geothermal power and other sources if and where feasible.

Great to see you taking the leadership articulating the need to drill for oil here and utilize our own natural resources.

There are a lot of solutions that don't require government solutions and mandates .

Time to get serious about developing our own sources of energy.

I think they should drill and make this country indipented. I am a ww11vet and I they are lettey our country go doun the tupe

Newt Gingrich needs to get on more TV shows more often to get this message out. I myself did not see him on Fox & Friends but was told about it.As far as I know it was not replayed, causing it to have limited exposure.

Chindia will just buy up any additional production, the price won't go down.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 11:50 AM
Hear, Hear, Anonymous! I am glad to see that someone else sees that those on the spot market, the speculators are also to blame. Price changes if Chavez sneezes..... it's just plain nuts.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 11:46 AM
It just amazes me how much the price of oil has gone up. Speculators on the spot market drive things up for the most ridiculous reasons ( not only supply issues )....so I don't put all the blame on OPEC. I want ANWAR and offshore opened up like everyone else, but I also want oil companies to be a bit more careful in HOW they drill. Coming from a family that has had wells on their property but have now been dry for years, oil drillers can be a sloppy bunch to deal with, and they come with sloppy practices. I think that if environmentalists can be shown that oil CAN be drilled in a responsible way, then we all can benefit. But, we also have got to be more careful in how we use our oil, too, for if we all misuse what we have, we are all guilty in the downfall of our way of life.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 9:37 AM
I will sign the petition as soon as the server will allow... Thank you for pressing on being a voice that will be heard. We have been taken over by the enemy within. Is this America??? When traveling abroad, I have always been so thankful to return to America, with all it flaws it was still America, it seems that day by day I am waking up in a different country, one controlled by Americans but not Americans. so thank you for Standing.
S. Tan

The speech was made 29 October 1941 to the boys at Harrow School. " Never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.''

Is this enemy our fellow Americans???

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 9:27 AM
What does it take to wake-up the American people that our Congress and the Environmental movement is out to destroy America as we know and understand it. A REVOLUTION???

By retnvy @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 9:13 AM
Summoning the Big Oil Executives in front of the Senate and Congress was just smoke and mirrors to try to convince us they are doing something to bring down the price of oil......after all, this is an election year. These spinless jellyfish need to get a backbone and stand up to the special interest groups and do the job they were elected to do. If they don't want to allow drilling here, then the price of gas, diesel, heating oil, jet fuel, kerosene, etc., should be capped at $2.50 per gallon, and our do-nothing government can make up the difference.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:53 AM
this is the first time in my life (64 yrs) that I am scared. What is going on??? HELP someone, HELP us please

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:51 AM
we should be drilling everwhere we can and tell the rest of "them" to go fly a kite. Why do we not get to use the oil from the alaska pipeline??

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:36 AM
Thanks Newt for starting this petition! I will be signing it as soon as the server issue is cleared up.

I have written my representatives here in NY & got zero responses on this issue. I will be sending the link to your petition to everyone I know. Maybe we can get these representatives to start doing what is best for our country.

Newt,
You simply have to get back in "the game". While I agree that you still make an impact, you can do your best work in an official capacity. This country is in dire need of leadership. Your time is now!

I support drilling for oil offshore as well as Alaska. It is rediculous to endanger our nation by depending on imports from unfriendly nations. Congress should get off their posteriors and clear the way for this. As a professional engineer, I know that safegards are available.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:27 AM
I totally agree with you. I pray the american people will get behind you and put so much pressure on the congress and senate to change their minds and change their attitudes and vote for drilling here.
I appreciate all you do for speakin out on our behalf

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:25 AM
Congress has gone nowhere and not one drop of new oil is in sight. This petition is a route to be heard rather than the incestious ramblings which continue out os Washington.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:24 AM
It is amazing that the left cares more about saving animals than our own men and women. We help fund the terrorists by being dependent on oil coming from countries that hate our guts and want to see us dead. Wake up America.Newt for Pres..................

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:20 AM
Thank you for pressing the energy issue. Let's drill for oil in Alaska and off shore in Florida. Let's build oil refineries for the first time in 30 years. Let's build nuclear plants as well as converting coal to shale. I would cast my vote for Newt today if he would run as an Independent.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:19 AM
Newt; I support what you are doing. The people in this country are 'nuts'. They elected the Liberals because they were/are mad at the Conservatives. Well Folks ! they have been in power for about 1 1/2 years. Have you seen any changes that helps YOU! Wait until the Liberals get a hold on the House and Senate and the Presidency. Then, maybe the people will get up of thier lazy backsides and do something that will bring some sanity to our Government, 'maybe'.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 27, 2008 8:05 AM
I fully agree-- Drill here--Drill now--Pay Less

Newt, I really wish you were running for President. Obama, HRD and McCain can't get it done! I am going to sign the DRILL NOW pretition as soon as the server isn't busy! Thanks Newt for your service. PS. Congress really doesn't get it, on all topics/issues! Pelosi ran on the platform of lower gas prices, and getting out of Iran. I guess the herbal tea drinkers are disappointed!

By Anonymous @ Saturday, May 24, 2008 1:48 PM
Another Purple Thumb here!

I have been a die-hard Newt Gingrich fan for well over 15 years. Newt, you are the type of leader - correction - you ARE the leader that I and millions of other Americans will rally behind and crawl over broken glass for, if needed.

Our whole country has Gone CRAZY!

I'm going to be a Grampa for the first time in about 4 weeks and I'm really feeling some fear for my family. (If anyone wants to see the fruits of decades of liberal Democrat rule, come up here to Michigan - especially to DETROIT. I'll rest my case.)

I say it's time to kick butt and take names!

Newt, name the Rally Point and I'll be there! I'm looking for a wall of fire to walk through ...

By Anonymous @ Saturday, May 24, 2008 11:41 AM
It's time to get the government out of the way.
Newt you're the only one out there that seems to get it, AND is offering any kind of practical, common sense solutions. How in the heck can we make these changes actually happen?
How does that old saw go when applied to our current Congress... Lead, follow, or get out of the way!

By John Ashman @ Saturday, May 24, 2008 3:40 AM
I signed it, but i'd like to remind everyone that more domestic oil development should also come with actions that reduce our oil use. Algae farms, improved gas mileage standards, more emphasis on diesel and biodiesel, more emphasis on converting everyone to roof top solar panels, etc, etc, etc.

By Anonymous @ Friday, May 23, 2008 7:19 PM
You sir to quote Mr. Hannity are a GREAT American, PLEASE PLEASE kept up the good work that you and your people are doing, thank you again.

By Anonymous @ Friday, May 23, 2008 1:00 PM

If you don't return to politics with your appropriate thought of governing within thw frame of our founding fathers we cannot stand!! Please consider this!

By Anonymous @ Wednesday, May 21, 2008 7:56 PM
Ohhhh Newt!!! Please, please, please won't you run for President? Even Vice President would be wonderful!!! We need YOU and your good sense. I am a Rep. but don't feel safe even with John McCain. We are in such a mess, but things will be even worse with Obama or Hillary. You are the perfect choice - It can't be too late. marg.

By rguellich @ Wednesday, May 21, 2008 6:29 PM
Your solutions are spot on. I would add we need to curtail speculation in essential energy and food commodities ansd we need somene like YOU to lead a national campaign to get something done n=before it is too late The liberal loons must see the light before the Islamic assholes bury us all or at the very least ruin our economy and freedom. PLEASE LEAD US ONCE AGAIN NEWT!!!

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 20, 2008 9:56 PM
It's time we get our own oil. Let Saudi Arabia protect itself . They are not our friends. What do they think will happen if Iran gets a bomb and we pull out of Iraq.Better start kickin down some oil real quik

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 20, 2008 5:56 PM

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 20, 2008 9:23 AM
anything to make us less dependent on another country, I am all for it.

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 20, 2008 7:53 AM
I fully support drilling on our own land instead of depending on other countries. Has our country gone insane?

By Anonymous @ Tuesday, May 20, 2008 12:26 AM
Newt, it's amazing that you are so eloquent and thorough in your examination of problems and solutions. I'm just not seeing results! Talking a good game, and getting things done are not the same. PLEASE figure out how to actually put your plans (though I don't agree with all of them) to work quickly.
