| Return of the Soviet propaganda machine |

It has been a little more than fifteen years since I had the pleasure of laughing at vintage, Soviet-style, anti-American propaganda. I had forgotten how ridiculously funny the posters, newsreels, and stories translated from Pravda were back then, even though I remember feeling bad for the honest, hard working Soviets who had no choice but to endure. I was a boy, what could I do? We never had a bomb shelter at the Newcomb house but, like most of the kids in my generation I practiced "duck and cover" in school. America had no missile shield then, just a desk, a chair, and Mrs. Marshman tapping that huge yard stick on her desk as she counted down to our imaginary, impending doom. Geography was not a strong subject for me, but I never understood why they would want to drop an atomic bomb on White City, Oregon. None of the other kids complained so I just went along with the crowd. Several years later, when the iron will of Ronald Wilson Reagan and Lady Margaret Thatcher finally broke through the wall in Berlin and the end of the Soviet Era began, I was well on my way to forgetting the deviousness and treachery that had taken the lives of tens of millions of people whose only crime had been being born into a nation led by a brutal Communist regime.
I believed Soviet aggression to be dead, buried in what President Bush would later refer to as the "dustbin of history," until I read the Russian version of recent events in the nation of Georgia. Charles Bremmer reports from Moscow in a Times.co.uk story entitled "Kremlin dusts off Cold War lexicon to make US villain in Georgia."
Russians were told over breakfast yesterday what really happened in Georgia: the conflict in South Ossetia was part of a plot by Dick Cheney, the Vice-President, to stop Barak Obama being elected president of the United States.
The line came on the main news of Vesti FM, a state radio station that - like the Government and much of Russia's media - has reverted to the old habits of Soviet years, in which a sinister American hand was held to lie behind every conflict, especially those embarrassing to Moscow. Modern Russia may be plugged into the internet and the global marketplace but in the battle for world opinion the Kremlin is replaying the old black-and-white movie.
The Obama angle is getting wide play. It was aired on Wednesday by Sergei Markov, a senior political scientist who is close to Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister and power behind President Medvedev.
"George Bush's Administration is promoting interests of candidate John McCain," said Dr Markov. "Defeated by Barak Obama on all fronts, McCain has one last card to play yet - the creation of a virtual Cold War with Russia . . . Bush himself did not want a war in South Ossetia but his Republican Party did not leave him any choice." The Americans were now engineering an armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Dr Markov added.
What the Russian propagandists fail to see is that this line of thinking may be normal and/or acceptable at websites backed by George Soros and Moveon.org, but it hardly represents anything resembling the truth. The audacity of those words are so peculiar that it makes me want to laugh again like I did as a boy, except it isn't funny anymore. It's not funny at all if you live in the Ukraine, since that seems to be where the propaganda says the next trouble spot will be. Time will tell.

After turning himself in to authorities, 20 year old David Kernell, son of Democratic Representative of Tennessee, Mike Kernell, is facing five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. He will be charged for hacking into GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin’s personal E-mail account. It is alleged that after reading the contents, he took a screen shot and posted it on a public Web site. The contents included email addresses, pictures, birthdays, and phone numbers of family members and more. To top it off, after resetting the password, he also posted the new one he had created, which allowed others to access the E-mail account themselves. Nonetheless, Kernell pleaded not guilty to the charges. Facing a $250,000 fine is intense. At $1,500 per loan, it would take about 167 individual payday loans to cover that outrageous expense. It is becoming increasingly obvious that we are in an all out, full court press of cosmic proportions in this election. It is time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country, stand up, speak up, blog up! Give, vote, rally others, we must win this. The left wing will stop at nothing.

One of the reasons that has to be taken into account for why we have not understood the real Russian threat, goes all the way back to the Vietnam War. What many people don't realize is that first, America did win that war. January 27th 1973 the Vietnam War ended in an American Victory! A victory betrayed by an anti-war influenced, Democrat led Congress, that stopped America from enforcing it's own provisions of the Paris Peace Accords (the Case-Church Admendment) then they cut off the funding that had been agreed to under article#7 of the accords. Basically they abandoned South Vietnam and disregarded the sacrifice of over 58,000 of some of the best of this country. The result was mass starvation, murder, torture, and slow agonizing death from untreated disease. The real reason this all happened is layed right at the doorstep of the news media. They took the side of the anti-war, misled the American people who in turn elected that Democrat Congress. One Vietnam veteran (myself) has written a book (Stabbed In The Back) that PROVES all of this, and that's the key you have to PROVE IT. Until the media is finally held responsible the good guys will always be playing catch up, until some day we run out of time. Ckeck it out you won't be disappointed, I wrote this book to win this fight. Stabbed In The Back PROVES IT!!!!

I agree. The Cold War was never over, Russia's economic engines were merely restructured to compete more efficiently with the Western democracies.
In the interim, American communists have still been working diligently to keep the country on its sharp Left turn into the wall.
The whole point of communism is for a few to gain a total corporate monopoly by seizing ownership of everything in a nation.
Russia never lost the Cold War, communism merely came full circle, it matured into what Newt now calls the "gangster" government. This is a very fair characterization.
Communism has always represented the ultimate "hostile takeover" scheme of the entire corporate world, under the name of one grand corporation, the "Supreme Soviet". And that will always be in Moscow.
I think it's about time for everyone to take the time to read the 40 something page "Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx. I'll bet few have actually bothered to read that idiotic document (but it's necessary).
Half of Marx's goals are found undiluted in the Obama platform - yet no one seems to be hip to the source material yet. Why not?
Why is it that no one seems to bother reading just 40 pages of that manifesto? It's the blueprint for the Left. You can download that manifesto for free online from wikipedia.com
If you don't know what the rules are, you're going to get played and lose the game.
It's a simple game too, the Communist Manifesto targets primarily the intensely stupid (that's almost a quarter of the population in most countries). It offers the lamest fallacies that only make sense to someone with a room-temperature I.Q. down to those in a coma.
I mean, it actually promises a "paradise" where there are no traditional families, no more individuality, no religion, no borders, and total thought conformity to an immovable, shadowy government of elitists. Kind of like the ultra-creepy political direction we've been forced into since the Berlin Wall came down. If your 8 year old came home from school yet and asked you what "oral sex" is, you'll know exactly what I mean by heading for a collision with a wall.
Reading the "Communist Manifesto" will also help make sense of the bigger picture in the direction of American politics away from traditional values and progressively progressing toward the "progressive", which is a buzz word for completing the ten points of the Communist Manifesto.
It will also help you understand that we aren't losing the "culture war", there is no culture war - there never was.
This has always been the Cold War on the home front, and you don't need to be psychic to figure out whether we're winning it or losing it.
At least Newt Gingrich gets it!
