| Newt takes on MSNBC regarding Gov. Palin's Experience |
|
|
|
|
|
I watched this last night and it was fantastic! Afterwards Keith Olbermann said he would come after Newt on his points, but retreated and never did so.
Transcript (via Newsbusters):
MSNBC's Ron Allen said to the former Speaker, "But to be fair, her (Palin's) resume is not something we're familiar seeing with presidential candidates."
This didn't sit well with Gingrich who strongly replied:
"It's stronger than Barack Obama's. I don't know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than Obama. She's been a real mayor, he hasn't. She has been a real governor, he hasn't. She's been in charge of the Alaskan National Guard, he hasn't. She was a whistleblower who defeated an incumbent mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage. She's a whistleblower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I've never seen Obama do one thing like that. She took on the incumbent governor of her own party and beat him, and then she beat a former Democratic governor in the general election. I don't know of a single thing Obama's done except talk and write. "
Newt then challenged Allen:
I'd like you to tell me one thing Sen. Obama's done.
With that, Allen retreated, and said:
Thanks very much, Mr. Speaker. I'm going to leave it there. I'm not going to argue the case. Thanks very much.
End of Transcript.

Oops, I forgot one thing, re: the meth comment and Alaska, I heard that is where Obama went, instead of Hawaii, to get some of it. We know he was a drug user(possibly pusher) and snorted not so long ago( according to his own words) hey, maybe that is why he doesn't know how many state there are (57,59) You're still fabulous Newt!

That was fabulous, Newt! The problem is that the MSM is never called on anything re Obama. They can dish it out, but can't take it. If Palin was not a threat, they wouldn't waste their time on her. Obama has had two years to "memorize" his talking points, Palin's had 2 months. She has taken everything they've thrown at her, Obama cries like a little girl and throws the word "racist" out if anyone says anything against him. That is how weak he is. He can't take it, either. They never talk about his accomplishments, and he doesn't either, they just attack hers. Maybe that is where all the hatred comes from, she's a conservative woman with more class, more experience and more guts than Obama. Without the MSM on his side, he would be nowhere and a nobody by now.

To the anonymous writer who likes to drink cool-aid. GROW UP..You are so Liberal and blind that you would choose an inexperienced person that spent 1 year in the Senate over a Governor of an entire State. A Senator has little responsibility in comparison. The Liberals can never present facts only try and degrade conservatives. Palin would make a far superior President and I think she will. I don't think Obama has a chance. He will fail simply because he cannot keep up the lies and deceit forever. Practically every President I can remember in my lifetime was a governor first so it must count for something...stupid liberals!

Obama WON THE DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION. That is the only requirement needed for either party. These asinine comments about being a mayor of some small town - heck, the entire population of the entire state of Alaska is less than half of that of Brooklyn - are stupid. No wonder the repubs. are losing big time. If you think Palin is qualified, you've been sucking McCain kool aid too long. But that's ok, the more she speaks, the farther behind McBush falls.

Newt makes some great points. Obama has never "governed" anything in his political experience. Obama is a "representative" of the people, unfortunantely, the people he represents are radical socialists/anarchists, such as Bill Ayers, Rev. J. Wright, ACORN, the New Party, and Nation of Islam. He should try representing "real" Americans, not those fictional voters ACORN has registered. I believe that most of these pollsters are sampling ACORN registerees; I heard that Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofey has socialist leanings... it is a small world after all, comrade.

To the lib who posted before me....You can always tell a lib comment by it's content, which is zero! What could be more ignorant than agreeing with Murtha!!! Everything he backed up ended up on the wrong side of history!!Gov Palin has more executive experience and more dignity than Obama and Biden combined!!! And another thing... she won't surrender to terrorists like the 2 whimps you're voting for!!!You should be ashamed of yourself backing the WORST most unqualified presidential candidate in US history! Get the tissues ready for when your party gets whiped again on Nov 4th, just like we've been whipping you for years!!! I can't wait till the "base" speaks!!

In a forward, I just received the videoclip of Newt's response to the to the MSNBC reporter's leading question which was just an attempt to put words in Newt's mouth.
Over the years I have seen many attorneys on cross-exam make a self-serving statement and ask the witness to confirm it by agreeing.
I was amazed at the way Newt, without a single hesitation, ran down the laundry list of Palin's outstanding resume points, and contrasted them to Obama's "empty" resume.
Newt, that was outstanding. I just wish McCain, Palin, and all of their staffs would be so quick and concise EVERY TIME such an oppportunity arose to get Palin's positive attributes out to the voters on national network TV.
Also, the Republican National Committee, the McCain-Palin campaigns, and every other group buying TV adspace should run this videoclip until every uncommitted voter, and all Democrats have seen it a thousand times! Maybe it would convince the uncomittededs, and the barely Obama leaners to vote McCain-Palin.

Newt,
From us all here in Las Vegas, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your stance on the Bail Out Bill. I finally know what it is about, since you have made it clear to all of us. Amazing how they want us to give it our blessing yet non of us actually understand it, and you have made it clearer. It is no wonder they wanted to get it pushed through in such a hurry.
Great Job, now run for President

thank God a man like Newt is out there letting people know the truth about the candidates running for the highest office. Sen. Obama is running on slogans and false promises. If anyone with half a brain looks up Obamas record and history they would see his strings are being pulled by the millionaires and billionaires like Soros and terrorists like Ayres and others from that cess pool of politics Chicago.

I don't know of one thing Obama has accomplished. I have heard him say no new taxes. He intends to let the Bush tax cuts expire, which would mean higher taxes for those making $42,000 or more. He says he wants to raise tax on gasoline because he doesn't think we pay enough now. All I hear from him are constant attacks on McCaim and Palin. He says Palin has no experience. Where is his? I have a nickname for him, Oblomo, because he is full of hot air and a ratchet jaw. We really need another Democrat in control. Look what they have done for us now. They cannot even come up with a decent energy plan. Oblomo blames our current financial mess on Repulicans, yet it was President Clinton that signed legislation to let low income get loans for housing. Do we really need more of the same?
I think Sara is the breath of fresh air needed to straight this country out.

This makes me laugh so hard. This would make the best advertisement that shows how biased the liberal media toward Palin and also shows how empty Obama is in terms of accomplishments. Why doesn't the GOP use this as an advertisement against Obama? I think this would be the most effective one. It convinced me, an undecided independent before I watched this, to vote now for McCain/Palin this Nov.

Abosolutely loved this interview and how the reporter was speechless! What a wonderfully refreshing honest answer to a ridiculous question in a season where all campaign answers are politically scripted. I think the american people would appreciate such candid responses from our candidates. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick of the ridiculous amount time that is being spent attacking Sarah Palin and attacking Obama for using a common term 'you can put lipstick on a pig.....' Honestly, not that I find the above acceptable, but who cares about these things in a pivotal time in our nations history. The candidates and the media need to be discussing issues rather than spending time on who said what about which candidate when. I feel like I am watching entertainment tonight, or Jerry Springer rather than watching coverage of Presidential candidates in 2008.

Newt nails it every time! There was so much more he could have said, but man can he whip out the facts. This country needs to know Sarah, and then it needs to know B. Hussien Obama. This Borak is truly dirty politics as usual; he won his first election (Ill. Senate) by using lawyer tricks to bump everybody else off the ticket, including the incumbent! Washington's already full of shyster lawyers, we don't need to put them in the whitehouse too.

Without getting on my soapbox and dissing one party over another at great length, forget the show folks......that's all this is...show. Points made, quips, cracks, etc. One party rallying around moral victories and anything to get an edge; it's a see-saw battle. It's like asking a mother who is the best son. She'll always put all her offspring in the best light possible, though she knows the clear choice. This race isn't even close based on the misrepresenting polls. Blacks, Hispanics and women are not reflected in these polls right now. So that's why one party is resorting to desperate measures because their campaign managers realize it. Folks will vote in masses like never before; the planets are perfectly aligned for the next prez. Thats were the war will be won. There is nothing neither party can prove to the other to prevent the inevitable. America has had enough, though I admit that there is no promise of resolution despite the winner. Let's not forget that. My real interest is in what has not happened thus far, what one party will resort to in order to put the odds back in their favor once they realize the inevitable. Hint: its the party that is historically "arrogant," as it will take arrogance for them to even fathom to stooping to such lengths.

Oh, Newt - would that we had legions of keen-minded patriots just like you ! You sock it to 'em, and our fantastic 'Pitbull-with-lipstick' Palin is gonna sic 'em . . . can't wait to see what's left after the dust settles ! !
A few replies to some of the earlier comments:
To the anonymous poster who cannot fathom how one, for example Sarah Palin, can be both pro-life and support the death penalty as well. . . There are those who believe that the punishment should fit the crime and differentiate between the innocent and the guilty. The unborn child is THE most innocent and helpless human life and guilty of no crime whatsoever; therefore the child deserves our support and protection; it is not a capitol crime to develop in the womb and inconvenience one or both parents for nine months, nor is it a crime to have Downs Syndrome, and the death penalty is definitely not warranted in the case of the unborn. For those who do not wish to parent the child they conceived, adoption is the loving and honorable choice, while abortion is a most brutual death sentence for the innocent.
With the advent of ultrasound, no one can argue logically that the life in it's mother's womb is not a child nor human life, and fetal pain has long been established in medical journals, and no one should argue that the unborn child is "the mother's body" to do with as she chooses; ultrasound clearly reveals that the child has it's own separate body, head, eyes, heartbeat, hands, legs, toes, hair, etc., and we even know that the child's DNA is uniquely different from the mother's.
Those sitting on death row awaiting execution have been convicted by a jury of their peers for crimes serious enough to warrant the death penalty as prescribed by our laws, and they have been found guilty through due process; most have filed appeals on technicalities in spite of the fact that their planned execution is the end result of their own actions - the just consequence of their crimes against others; the Jeffery Dahmers, Ted Bundys, and Timothy McVeys of this world cannot be compared to, nor treated the same as, the precious little babies awaiting their time to take their first breath. It is a travesty of justice to say on one hand that death by lethal injection is too cruel a consequence for a convicted murderer with a monster's mentality, but - without the same benefits afforded to murderers - due process, a hearing, a trial, a conviction or an appeal - the literal mutilation and shredding of an unborn child enduring the abortion process is something this society should support and codify into law because of pressure from women who sadly believe and stridently scream that it is their barbarous medical 'right' under the Constitution - I've read the entire Constitution, and I'm still trying to find the clause that even hints at such a miscarriage of justice; some activist judges got highly creative and irresponsibly loose with their interpretation.
Many of our laws were based on Biblical principles, and scripture is very specific about NOT shedding innocent blood in our land, or the wrathful consequences will be most dire. For a real eye-opener, go to any website that has the Bible online and use that site's search engine to query "innocent blood."
Scripture also tells us that we are to defend and rescue the weak and helpless and the innocent who are unjustly oppressed. There are those who worship self and choice, and there are those who worship God in Heaven, the creator of us all, who individually formed us and awesomely made us all, lovingly knitting us together in our mothers' womb; we are each the incredibly unique work of His very own hands; created in His image for His glory and to fulfill His plan. There are those in this country who foolishly believe there will be no consequences for destroying the innocent precious work of His hands. As good choices are made, good consequences follow, and conversely, as bad choices are made, bad choices follow. McCain and Palin 'get it.' Obama is such an extreme liberal that he doesn't even believe that infants who survive the abortion process and are born live deserve to be protected under the law; that is a very outrageously sick mindset; he could not be any more cold, calloused and unfeeling.
To the poster who wrote, "I'm a lib and female and had not made my mind up until I saw Ron Allen and MSLSD once more criticize Gov. Palin. I've had enough of this crap. The news media makes me sick. I'm not a McCain type of person but I can relate to Gov. Palin and will vote McCain/Palin with a clear and open conscience while shoving it up the news media arse." Well, I'm a female and, as must be obvious by now, a conservative, and I had not made up my mind, not a McCain type, and I'm also way beyond sick of the news media . . . and . . . within just and fair laws, I believe women should be liberated to achieve their highest goals and their greatest potential. Let's shove it up the news media's arse together. Sarh has great potential and demonstrated executive leadership. I would LOVE to see this highly capable, principled, and accomplished woman in the next Administration; a woman with whom I can identify, in that she knows what it is like to live life as an ordinary wife, mother, and woman - far outside the elitist Ivy League and Washington circles. But she is certainly no ordinary woman - what a firecracker !
Yet another comment - where was everyone questioning how JFK could be President of the USA and still be a "good" father to his young children, or Bobby Kennedy, or any one of the former Presidents or V.P.'s who had families to juggle while they held office? Didn't JFK have little John John playing under his desk at times in the Oval Office? I have every confidence that Sarah is an outstanding multi-tasker. Poor Chelsea had both parents immersed in political endeavors and ambitions; the media handily gave Bill and Hillary a pass on parenting. Why isn't the media condemning or questioning all the celebrity moms whose work schedules demand time away from their children? Why isn't the media aghast at all the celebs who get pregnant and never bother to marry ? How dare they fawn all over Angelina et al and then hypocritically and selectively pick on Bristol Palin and denounce Sarah as a mom with questionable parenting skills because she has a teenage daughter who chose to have pre-marital sex and then "found herself in a family way" - to resurrect an expression of yesteryear ! There are millions of families in this country with teens who routinely and foolishly ignore the wisdom, values, and earnest counsel of their parents; the Palin family is just another one of them trying to cope.
John McCain's VP pick demonstrated yet again that he has a very discerning eye for absolutely amazing women; first, Cindy and now Sarah. I agree that it's time for change - POSITIVE change, but we don't need the kind of change that is only skin deep nor do we need the kind of burdensome socialistic changes that Barack Hussein Obama promises to institute. His VP pick is longtime old-school Washington Joe Biden; what kind of phoney change is that?

Contrary to what some of these posters might believe, Sarah Palin was involved and did write her speech with advisory assistance only from professional speech writers (ask her). Five minutes into the speech, her teleprompter malfunctioned and from there on was speaking from memory and a few notes. Obama, on the other hand, obviously does not write his speeches. If you ever hear him speak without a script and a teleprompter, it's obvious that there is very little behind the face. Why do you think his handlers would not consent to the town hall face offs to which Mr. McCain challenged him? Again, I would suggest to the liberals that they would sound far more intelligent and be much more able to defend their position if they would only do a little work, delve into the meat of the issues, instead of only reading headlines, listening to 30 second sound bites and spouting a few selected buzzwords! I am not the staunchest of Republicans and do have a few problems with some issues, but I have yet to find a liberal that can intelligently defend their liberal opinion with facts and documentation. And yet, they still get to vote. Be afraid! Be very, very afraid!

I have one thing to say about the person who upholds that people in a CEO position don't work any harder than the average American. I'd like to first ask where this person works?? I work for a small company (200) people, and the CEO and COO both work insane hours. Their life is the job. The CEO, by the way, built the company from the ground up. The individual who made the above comment obviously has no idea how much ambition, hard work, and confidence in your ideas it takes to start a company. There are CEO's for every company both large and small. However, many liberals I meet only think of oil execs and large investment bank CEO's that have lavish things when in reality, the average CEO out there is running a small to medium sized business that they most likely helped to create. The beautiful thing about America is that we have a free-enterprise system where the sky is indeed the limit for everyone. What I hear from liberals is that they want to limit the ceiling for those hard workers with ambition and pride because the lazy, un-motivated people out there can't make ends meat, and feel they deserve help due to their "situation". Every less fortunate person is a "woe is me" struggling family with 8 kids and 2 parents working three minimum wage jobs. The question you won't hear asked on air is "WHY DO THEY HAVE * KIDS?????" Be responsible for your actions! The government does not exist to bail you out of the mistakes you make.
Lastly, every person that may "fall into" a certain position ( as the poster said) or is in a more privileged position is the result of someone's hard work one or more generations before. In other words, the situation would not exist if someone somewhere didn't bust their but. People born into bad situations are most likely the result of poor decisions made by their own family members one or more generations prior. It's the government's fault right? Oh wait, it's also the government's respobsibility to bail you out?
I currently work a full time consulting job with travel required, a part time evening job (trainer), take a night class, volunteer at a local hospital, and am studying to take the medical college admissions test because I have the ambition to be a doctor. I could whine that the government owes me something or that my family couldn't afford to pay for my college (which is true) or I could shutup and work my butt off because I recognize that I have no glass ceiling over me. That's the difference.
God Bless McCain/Palin and their ability to recognize what America was founded on, what it stands for, and how important it is to future generations to uphold its ideals.

First of all, the reporter was there to get Newt's opinion. He's not supposed to argue the facts. Also if all of you would bother to look up on factcheck.org it would tell you that most of what's in McCain's ads is false information. Lies just like the last 8 years. And it also sounds like everyone leaving comments here should write in Palin's name on the ticket, because you'd rather have her as president than "The old wrinkly, white haired dude".
Oh, she does do a good job of reading a speech that SOMEONE ELSE wrote. While McCain's speeches amount to "Ya,... what she said". WAKE UP PEOPLE, YOU'RE BEING FED THE SAME OLD LINE THAT YOU'VE BEEN EATING FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS!!!

Certainly wasn't the kind of thing that the gang at MSNBC says when they are talking about their candisate Barack. I'm sure that reporter had never heard any sort of discordant tone about their hero... let alone an eloquent one like Newt's. I doubt Newt will see another MSNBC microphone for a while. Oberman ( oops he just got dumped !) wished he instructed his reporter to only find Republicans who conform to east coast media's assumed profile of small town boob who hasn't figured out a way to live off of the taxpayers yet.

How dare the media heads and especially folk from New York and other large cities use the excuse that Sarah Palin was a "Small Town" Mayor and the Governor of a small State. The large majority of Americans live in "Small Towns". Even in New York, the City is broken down into small towns called Neighborhoods, such as Harlen, Greenwich Village and others. I live in Brooklyn, the largest Borough, However, I was raised in Jackson Mississippi. I dont' see the difference. Sarah Palin will get hammered but she can take it because she is just like the Women I see every day taking care of their kids, attending PTA meetings and doing community work (not community organizing) I'm pumped.

Sarah is a breath of fresh air. Why are people worried about how she is going to be VP, care for a family, care for a special needs child and support her 17 yr old daughter? If her husband were nominated for VP, would they be asking these questions??? You bet your sweet A-- they wouldn't!!

No doubt, Sara's an outstanding women and has great experience, but who is raising the kids and governing Alaska while she campaigns? What about if she becomes VP? If elected, I think she may try to do a good job, but what about the demands of her baby and emotional support for her pregnant daughter!!! Something has to give!!! I just don't think it's her time to take on the responsibilities of such a demanding job. If the Republicans sought a women for the VP candidacy, there are many out there that would fit the bill and would not have so many family concerns and needs. I was a working mom for 25 years, now retired, but I didn't have 5 children and a baby with special need while in the working world. I have an MA in Education with an emphasis in Child Development so I have read many studies on needs of children at various stages of their growth. Does any one out there support my view on her candidacy ?

In response to Anon. who said: "The lady is Pro Life but at the same time Pro Death Penalty and Pro War.... that doesn't make any sense to me.... than again I'm not a hypocrite. It will be a sad day when McCain/Palin win this election. Conservatives are so unbelievably close minded... "
Do you realize how shallow your post is? Is everything just a sound bite for you liberals? "Pro Life" and "Pro Death Penalty" are not opposites just because one has the word "life" in it and the other has the word "death". The comparison is only valid if you believe in reincarnation and that all reincarnated humans were murderers and rapists in their prior lives (that all babies are guilty of capital crimes). And as for "Pro War", I haven't seen any direct evidence that anyone running from either party is in favor of war as a constant policy, nor any who take the opposite stance and favor peace to the point of surrender.
We conservatives aren't close minded. We have thought things through carefully and understand that there are subtle nuances in public policy, particularly since most laws intended to fix something make it worse (drug prohibition, paying the poor for being poor, encouraging home ownership via easy mortgages, etc). So when we oppose things that have great sound bites, it isn't because we are hard-hearted; when we support them, it isn't because we have "seen the light". Things aren't so simple for conservatives / libertarians as they are for liberals.

This is one of the biggest reasons we need Newt back somewhere in government. He has what it takes to put America where it was when he left.
I left government when Bill showed his color and I will leave the country if Obama moves in to order pizza again for the Whitehouse.
The office of the President has been so disgraced by the Playboy and then the Fighter pilot who didn't .
What we need now is someone who respects the White house and the country we don't need Obama and his lack of love and Understanding of the needs of the poor Americans who don't have sisters who are half Indonesian married to Chinese Canadian. We don't need a world leader. We need an American Leader.

Way to go Newt! With clarity and initially in response to the reporters insulting "salvo" question, you pummelled him and justly and correctly described the severe and sad short comings of one of the emptiest weakest, and dangerous political candidates for the office of President of the United States ever! Even in liberal New York City, I have already seen some very positive effects and people starting to think about the facts coming (finally) into light! Great Job Newt!!! Even though I wanted you to run for President, perhaps the Good Lord had you in mind for this very moment to say what you said in order to help the country get back on track!!!

Get a clue! It's just like a liberal to try and change the topic when they have no credible response to valid criticism. What does this video clip have to do with CEO pay? Besides, don't you think it takes a strong, bright CEO to insure a growing company that offers security and decent pay and benefits to the rank and file? I wish more liberals would bother to read a little more than headlines, listen to more than just 30 second sound bites, and spout more than a few buzz words. They would certainly be able to take a stronger position if they would bother to think for themselves, get the facts, and stop letting a bunch of general media talking heads tell them how and what to think!

So your typical Republican Politician thinks like this: "I'm a government employee who works for a large government party who thinks the government is bad for the people and when I'm elected to government office I will prove how stupid the government is by messing it all up."
Nevermind the fact that the government is for the people by the people. Republicans are for the corporations, by the corporations. When your average CEO makes 300 times more than the average worker... you have a problem... Don't tell me they work any harder either because that is complete BS. Most CEO's attained that position because they knew someone that could get them there. Most were privileged to begin with. Meanwhile some average people bust their butts all day everyday and still can't get anywhere.... thats fair?
When Laura Ingraham says "power to the people," she means the Corporate few. She doesn't care about the average consumer unless they buy her book.
Get a clue Conservatives.

I love this clip because the reporter (and I use that term loosely because reporters are NOT supposed to editorialize) actually WAS making the case for the argument in his initial antagonistic statement:
"But to be fair, her (Palin's) resume is not something we're familiar seeing with presidential candidates."
TO BE FAIR??? Since when has the mainstream media ever been fair??? That was a smug but blatant attack on her record and he knows it! It was beautiful the way Newt shredded him on national television!
The piece-de-resistance was seeing Allen dumbstruck and his only out was, “Thanks very much, Mr. Speaker. I'm going to leave it there. I'm not going to argue the case. Thanks very much.” I really wish he would have said, “I’m not going to argue the case – anymore.” Unfortunately this will be low-key in the media and this mental midget will be back to making his attacks when Newt isn’t around to dress him down. Too bad.

Newt's got NADS! And like Rooster Cogburn, Sarah Palin's got TRUE GRIT! We need a House, Senate, and Whitehouse full of Newts, McCains and Palins! They all have intelligence, morals, and common sense. Three things rarely found in Washington, D.C. these days. And they do what's right for the people and the country as a whole, not their own hidden agendas. I'd vote for any ticket with Newt for Prez or VP either one. But until we have that option, I'm 100% behind McCain & Palin! The democrats need to do a better job of finding their puppets. Obama is a smoother talker than even Slick Willy, as long as it's planned and teleprompted. Let's see him in some live debates without a script or teleprompter. Obama, Slick Willy, and Billary all belong in Hollywood with the rest of the actors. They aren't true patriots and leaders like Newt and McCain. They're merely performing artists. And Joe Biden is just another career blowhard politician, like Teddy Kennedy. But those two can't even act. So they should just go home and stay there.

Gave in and voted for Bush. Good man. Voted for son, good man, bad congress. Again the same. Now comes Obama. I knew Newt very well. He is always like that. He is a best fighter. Palin is a great and true Conservative. For John McCain, I am not 100 percent sure about him until recent. He is getting there more and more. Anyone who don't like John McCain, must be busy doing something else than to pay attention. He put Country First. He choice Sarah Palin, not because she is a woman. It is because of what she have done to Alaska. She booted several top people from BOTH Parties. And she had great experience, more than Obama and Biden combined. And you know what? Liberals smear on Bristol's pregnant, and nobody say anything about Biden's daughter's arrest in Chicago? None! You know what? I am not going to smear Biden because if you smear Palin, they will come back at you. Just like as you see on Newt, they smear him, he come back at them! Newt wins, Palin wins, too.

Good arguments Mr. Speaker. Why does noone bring up the fact that while the Democrates have controlled the two house for two years, they have not reached out or moved very much at all? Why is the fact that Congress has the lowest approval rating far below President Bush's when the houses are controlled by the Democrats. Shouldn't Congress share in some of the blame because they are one of the three Balances of Power in our great country. They have veto override power and cannot seem to really produce anything. It is not just the Executive Branch policies. It is the three branches that pass and interpret our laws.

Obama's New Suit Obama's rise to become the candidate for President of the United States reminds me of the Hans Christian Anderson fable "The Emperor's New Suit".
“But he has nothing on at all,” said a little child at last. “Good heavens! listen to the voice of an innocent child,” said the father, and one whispered to the other what the child had said. “But he has nothing on at all,” cried at last the whole people. ...

I am a Patriot to the Constitution, a conservative by nature, and a fighter when provolked. It is time in this country to take the gloves off and confront the liberals in this overt and obvious collusion to sway Americans in this election. From the media to the liberal elites in congress, and the liberal beaurocrats in our institutions. If liberalism is the cure for America, why has it not cured all of the problems , because they are dead wrong. I feel they have done more long term damage to America than the terrorists. Our founding Fathers ,blessed by God, created the greatest country in the history of mankind. Thank God we have statesmen like Newt who have the smarts and character to speak the truth and not back down.

Does it ever make you wonder that when u see McCain he has life long friends around him, but u never see anyone around obama. hhmmm Makes you wonder where his real friends are ... Louie, Rev,, look at poor jesse . got a poor tummy ache after watching our girl. & where's our buddy Al been?

I wish that you were running in stead of McCain but we conservatives have Palin now and love that you smile and are so pleasant when you devastate the liberals. I respect your knowledge and feel like you are always teaching the liberals who act like they are in kindergarten, while you are so erudite with many PHDs. Obama is a plastic puffed up whimp who due to his free education can deliver and energize a speech while he is a whiner who follows the requests by the rich liberals. Thank you for your time, effort and brains when dealing against the rich liberals who have more money than brains.

Good for you, Newt. I/m getting sick and tired of people who don't take these biased reporters on more often.
I honestly can't believe what the press is doing to this woman. Gloria Steinam and Sally Quinn, and so many others, saying that Sarah should go home and take care of her children when they were the women who told us almost 40 years ago that a woman could not be fulfilled unless she worked and left her kids in daycare for 10 hours. <------I stole that line from a caller on the radio today, but isnt it pithy?

I was skeptical of Sara at first, but now that I've heard her speak and understand her record, that's all I need to know. The Democrats should be afraid, very afraid.
I ran across this scripture passage yesterday....Proverbs 5:2 "The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Something to think about.

Newt- I roared with laughter after your interview. I think the reporter soiled himself and that's why he could not respond. You nailed it as succincty as usual. Conservatives are invigorated and finally others (besides you) are taking off the kid gloves and shouting from the rooftops that Obama is a sham. I hope you are advising the MCCain/Palin team, especially Sarah- she's going to need your mentoring, guidance and support through the liberal BS thrown her way over the next 2 mos. She's a gift from above as is her family. McCain proved himself to me- thought his speech was moving and spot on. Above all else, the guy is devoted to his country and that is fact though his actions. He was warm, funny and convincing. The narssistic Obama is a poseur and not much else. His wife is rascist- read her dissertation. Cindy is a class act, also a successful woman. The feminists have been awfully quiet about HER, strangely enough. Keep up the good work!

Newt -
You are a great American! More importantly, you use your logic and intellect to drive home the point that facts are more important than posturing and political retoric. Unfortunately, may of our citizens just don't seem make the commitment to study, analyse and understand the position of the individual that want to lead or Country. This is concerning at the least, and depressing at the worst!

Mr. Speaker, EXCELLENT!!!! Typical of the left when confronted firmly with hard facts they either launch into a personal attack or back away from the debate...much like in the old Dracula movies when Van Helsing presents the cross and Dracula cringes...liberals are simply vampires of a different sort. It was a wonderful convention and the personal stories of the two candidates are truly inspiring...and on the political scene they will be a force to be reckoned with. Obama is in some serious trouble!

Bravo, Mr. Speaker. You are a true American hero with a gift for delivering the facts with plain talk, brilliance, and courage. In my conversations with those who support Obama I find they are remarkably naive. When questioned, they have no idea where he stands on any of the issues. They are also the ones that think Nancy Pelosi is doing a great job. If Obama is elected, the Dems will get exactly what they deserve - unfortunately, the rest of us will suffer as well. From paying much higher taxes to a significantly increased terrorism threat. If elected, I am sure Obama will immediately repeal the investigative tools that have helped keep us safe for then last 7 years.

Bravo Newt! Interesting that the "reporter" unwittingly admitted that he had an anti-Palin agenda when he said he would not "argue the case". Real news reporters don't have "a case" to argue. I doubt this bozo recognized that he proclaimed his own agenda even as he ducked your unerring full salvo, Newt. Sarah Palin is Reaganesque in her own right. In what will be an historic night she has taken the reins and revived and reunited the conservative movement in America. At last, a stateswoman, a leader to rally behind! She has what it takes, as did Reagan, to be a one-man army, but may she never have to stand alone! Rally, conservatives! Here is real hope for America!

On this issue of Obama getting a security clearance. I served in the Army, Military Intelligence (yes I know the jokes...) and had a clearance rating above Top Secret with special access to other things. IF Obama is elected he will automatically gain access to a clearance as The President with the understanding of the very sensitive nature of its collection. You all are aware how Intel gets leaked from members of Congress and their staff. Little do they realize their moment of "look what I heard" can severely damage our national and international security, but it can also cost the lives of our sources!

for the person who said: "If any one is dumb enough to believe a young lady with no experience in world policy, with all that family, can spend time to lead this country, they had better wake up. "
LOL....First of all, you have to be pretty dumb to believe that the vice president is the one "leading" the country. I thought it was the President that was the one leading the country, and I think the EXACT same things could be said about the democrat Presidential candidate. Let's see. How was that put? If any one is dumb enough to believe a (young lady) MAN with no experience in world policy, or executive experience, or much experience (doing as much as Sarah Palin has done thus far in her life WITH her family), can spend time to lead this country, they had better wake up.

I don't understand why the democrats have their heads in the sand and can't see through this phony want to be. The Obama's don't give their children Christmas presents ( the most important Christian holiday), do you suppose it is because they can't afford it, or do you think that they may really be Muslim extremist's masqurading as Christians? These are dangerous times, remember the Hollywood movie from a few years back called "The Enemy From Within". It's something to think about isn't it?

If Barack Hussein Obama wins the presidential election, it just goes to show you how incredibly stupid America has become. He is NOTHING more than a media creation who makes a great speech and writes books, but he hasn't even authored a bill in the senate, and I'm suppose to vote for him? Sarah Palin has more executive leadership experience than Obama, and she is running for VP. As Americans, how can we not vote for McCain given his incredible leadership and loyalty shown to America as a prisoner of war? I trust McCain with my life and country, and it's as simple as that! Besides, I still cannot fathom how Obama sent 20 years in a so-called Christian church that preached hate, racism, and anti-American propaganda? That reason alone should disqualify him from serious consideration. McCain is real! Obama is a pretender!!!

Thats were they came up with Obama-nation right?) anyway, if the messiah had that many kids, the liberals wouldnt be crying about how he would be able to be a parent to those kids. They are being sexists, which they accuse us of being and if any political satire pops up making fun of lord Obama, they pull out the race card and cry racism. Oh, and by the way-Barry Obama is an empty suit with an empty mind w/out an original thought in his head. The Hollyweird left support him because he's just like they are: actors, reading someones else s lines, playing someone he is not and can never be. The only "change" Obama will give you is the spare change you will have left when he finishes taxing you to death.

To the commentator who claims only "brain-dead" republicans would post such comments preceeding his/hers: Take note...after you get off board and vote for that unexperienced, do-nothing candidate who only knows how to vote "present" on most issues, STAY ON THAT SIDE!! You'd have to be a real ostrich to make such a comment or consider the democratic ticket....at all!!!

Awesome! I heard part of the interview and I thought Newt did an awesome job. I wish all conservatives would talk like this and get the word out to all. Lets all do our best to stand up to any liberal that says anything to that effect, but in a mannerly and tactful way. Thanks Newt

Reference the last comment.....
Actually...what's really apparent..... is that you, and the rest of the people that are voting for Obama, can't answer the question that Newt posed to the reporter. As for the truth you mentioned.....In the words of Col. Jessep....."Truth, you can't handle the truth." Have a good day. :-)

it's apparent only brain washed republicans bothered to post a comment. I was a republican who switched parties to vote for Obama. I don't want 4 more years of Bush/McCain & now Palin who has a dismal record if the truth be known

Great job Newt. Interesting the media forgets to mention the very low rating of the democratic congress, which is the lowest in history. Seem a little too coincidental the economy started going south when these left wingers gained majority.

Bravo, about time we heard someone from the conservative side who is not afraid of the liberal meat grinder, after all what more can they do to us. We should not be afraid of what they call us like Gov. Palin, let's use it against them and let them know "we are not looking for their approval but their removal " if they do not play fair and at least come clean by admitting up front they are not conservative but liberal in their viewpoints and stop trying to pretend they are being objective. I believe after the election for President is over we will see as we did last election a confused and dazed liberal media wonder out loud on camera " how could this have happened" They just do not get it and all their attacks will backfire and we will not only get a Republican President, but a majority in the house and senate.

Bravo, Mr. Speaker! I had hoped you would have run for President, and I was still hoping you'd be selected for the number two slot. I think Palin is a poor choice for VP, although she's better than Quail in 1992. She seems like a very good and capable person, but not the best choice for VP. That would have been you, Mr. Speaker.
Thank you for your incredible service to our country,

After Governor Palin's speech this evening, I think Newt's awesome speaking ability has some company.
Seeing Newt get his dander up is refreshing, and much appreciated. It is all the more priceless to see someone finally say what I feel to someone in the MSM.
THANK YOU NEWT!

I think Newt has him cold if he ends as follows: 1) "As you see it, what more does her resume need?" Followed by, "Did you ever make a similar observation about Senator Obama's leaner resume, and af not, why not?" Then, the reporter cannot wriggle off the hook as he did.
Of course, it's much easier to see these things a day later from a lunch room in California. Still, food for thought I hope.

DNCTV ( I mean MSNBC) needs to have it's come upins.. I am sick these bozos. I am an exclusive Fox viewer. the rest of the alphabet are anything But fair and balanced.
The media is the 4th estate, I find it nearing a proportion that is unintelligible.
What's worse is many people still don't see the clear biases by the media / liberal / big government complex.
Thanks for standing up for us Newt, and thanks for your continued ability to rattle the trees!!

I think Newt is right on track. He's the only guy that has been speaking my mind since 98 when I was old enough to vote. Being from Georgia, I've always loved Newt's candor, and it fires me up when he lays the smack down to news tyrants that couldn't logic their way out of a brown paper bag!!!

How appropriate that was! Bravo Mr. Speaker! Bravo!
It would be nice if Newt's righteous comments finally stirred the pot of sanity at NBC regarding Obama's record, but I know that's just pie in the sky. When Newt asked KO to identify similar things in Obama's past, the interview had to end because there was no answer.
Obama is the symbol that has replaced substance.
