There's good news for Americans who believe in a smaller federal
government: The law of unintended consequences is alive and well in the
Obama age.

It was standing room only with about 2,000 people coming to hear former Vermont Governor and Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean, and former U.S Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich go head to head about a topic that has so many of you asking questions

<trackback:ping>http://newt.org/DesktopModules/iBN%20News%20Articles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=4623&PortalID=0&TabID=102</trackback:ping>
Dean and Gingrich agree, disagree

It's paying off. His newest novel, To Try Men's Souls: A Novel of George Washington and the Fight for American Freedom, written with historian William Forstchen, enters USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list at No. 27. The novel focuses on three men involved in the founding of America and follows best-selling series on the Civil War and World War II. "It's for anyone who wants to understand the level of courage it took for America to become a country, and the extraordinary risks Washington took," Gingrich says. Next in the series of four: the Valley Forge campaign. As for writing dialogue, Gingrich says: "Of course, the conversations are beyond our knowing, but we keep it as historically accurate as we can."

<trackback:ping>http://newt.org/DesktopModules/iBN%20News%20Articles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=4621&PortalID=0&TabID=102</trackback:ping>
Dean, Gingrich Debate Healthcare in Southeast Missouri

CAPE GIRARDEAU-Former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean and former republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich were in our region Wednesday night debating healthcare.

Dean supports the public option and explains what he thinks an ideal one would be.

"An option that allows people to sign up for a program like Medicare, which guarantees you'll have insurance whenever you travel, guarantees you can't be turned away from an insurer, and follows you whether you have a job or don't and costs the same by everyone who signs up for it."

<trackback:ping>http://newt.org/DesktopModules/iBN%20News%20Articles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=4620&PortalID=0&TabID=102</trackback:ping>
Education Road Tour with Gingrich, Duncan and Sharpton continues

The combination of a conservative republican in Gingrich and the liberal democrat Sharpton is “very surprising” admitted Sharpton, but pointed out they were will to put aside their differences at Obama’s call to join hands to emphasize the plight of public education in the United States.

Gingrich is confirmed for a full day of activities on November 3, beginning in Montgomery with stops at the Rosa Parks Museum and Carver Senior High School.

The schedule will shift to Macon County with Sharpton arriving to join Gingrich at a luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sportsbook Restaurant at VictoryLand in Shorter.
