You are giving too much gentlemanly credit to these people...

McCain is STUBBORN" not all that courageous... and he is wishy-washy and his negative advertising is met with sympathy while Romney's reports of McCain's negative record are met with scepticism.

Hillary may have opened up a little... BUT she was faking the emotion and milking it for all it was worth.

As you said the POLLS influenced the outcome... PAC's are not allowed to influence within within a certain number of days of the election... Whay are POLLS and news media allowed to influence the outcome by claiming victory for a certain candidate before all the voting is done.

THAT'S NOT FREE SPEACH...IT EXPENSIVE BULL... ONEY

Newt should be the VP candidate for whoever the nominee is.

I agree with the comment that was made that the press even Fox News does not give the credit or the name recognition to Mitt that they do the others. Their is something about the Huck that I don't trust and I agre also that the Dems want Huck to win the nomination .... because he can't win the general. Mitt is the only one that can take on the dems... he has the business experience and governing experience.

Newt is the man that can get this country out of the mess it is in. His ideas are good ones and I agree with him on everything. I regret he did not run for President and I have told many of those calling on surveys, that I would only vote for Newt. My wife agrees with me. One question I have is about Barack and that is: Can you confirm Barack using the Koran instead of the Bible when he was sworn in? Did he turn his back when the Amercan Flag passed by? God bless you and yours. Lee Fowler , 28000 J. Ave. Adel, Ia 50003

Newt, Mitt, and Fred are by far the most conservative. Juan McCain is Kennedy's towel boy.People need to stop saying the govt is broken. It's corrupt, criminally corrupt. Then protected by a criminally corrupted judicial system. With out addressing a corrupt judiciary nothing will EVER change.

By Anonymous @ Friday, January 11, 2008 9:07 AM
I agree, Fred Thompson and Newt together would be the best for the country.

By Anonymous @ Friday, January 11, 2008 2:11 AM
I agree. Mitt Romney is doing very well--but by the press you wouldn't know it. He won in Wyoming that has more delegates than New Hampshire and hardly a word was said. The press is showing its "the West doesn't exist" mentality and also deliberately trying to make Mitt look like a looser that "Must Win Michigan or all is lost!" He has the most delegates so far and is the only candidate that won or came in second in all three states to date. Come to think about it McCain LOST in Iowa big time! Huclkeberry LOST big time in New Hampshire and they both LOST Big time in Wyoming. The only one to get on the score board in all three was Mitt Romney. The media wants Huckleberry to win so their liberal D buddies can have an easy target in the general elections.

I agree with the comment that Newt would be the best President. Fred Thompson has the best ideas of all that are running. He should be pres. and Newt his V.P. That is only if Newt didn't run. Anyone agreeing with me should pust that thought along to everyone if they agree.

My guess is that Bill and HIlary stayed up all night and rehearsed her sobbing admission that she was doing all of this soley because she loved our country so much

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 2:36 PM
It's been mind-boggling that more attention isn't being paid to MITT ROMNEY. He has won more delegates than ANY other Republican candidate at this point, and is the only one running that has a chance to beat either Obama or Clinton.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 1:12 PM
Senator McCain has always seemed to be a Democrat saying he is a Republican! Now when he needs votes, seems to be changing into Republican clothes. Don't like two-faced politicians. Newt is the only one who could run this country and win the people to love him. The media couldn't destroy him. We know a leader when we see one and all one has to do is listen for a few minutes to the man who can do It! Sorry you dropped out Mr. President.

I very much appreciate John McCain. I knew his Dad who was a great American. But when I think about a long time Senator running for the Presidency, I have flash backs of Robert Dole's effort against Bill Clinton. Sad day... Senator McCain has too many IOUs out and although his heart is in the right place to change Washington, I just don't think he can do it. I quite agree with a previous comment that Mitt Romney has the experience, ability and drive to be a great president

Newt is the only person with NEW IDEAS and the intellect to know what is needed NOW! Newt has said our government is broken and is in need of Major Surgery. Newt is the only person who could manage the Major Surgery. His baggage and the way the Democrats would demonize him would require the patience of Job.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 4:56 AM
"I wish the media did not hate Newt. What a great President he would be!" -AND I AGREE WITH THIS COMMENT

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 3:19 AM
I agree that it seemed most people in NH wanted change. What I can't figure out is why they would vote for Clinton or McCain; they have both been part of the establishment for at least 28 years.

They both give me the impression that they deserve to be president, b/c they have been trying so long to get that job. I believe they would do or say anything to get the job, and they would make themselves king/queen if elected.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 3:06 AM
Whey is itthat none of the stations want to talk about Mitt Romney and all his accomplishments. He is the smartest man in the RACE, AS WELL ASBEING BRILLANTIN PUTTING THE OLMPICS TOGETHER

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 1:54 AM
I like Newt and I think he would have been an excellent choice as a presidential candidate as long as he didn't address all americans as Christians, leaving the rest of us non- Christians feeling left out. We are Americans; we need to feel included, as our G-d includes all of us.

By Anonymous @ Thursday, January 10, 2008 12:53 AM
I totally disagree with you. Much of what you said is hog wash! Hillary Clinton put on an act and I am surprised people fell for it.
McCain may have won New Hampshire, but He is too old, voted too many times with the democrats, and teamed up with Ted Kennedy for amnesty for illegal aliens. You do not get change by putting in the same old people and giving them different chairs.
Mitt Romney won Wyoming, but no mention was even made of that! I am disappointed in you!

I wish the media did not hate Newt. What a great President he would be!

By Anonymous @ Wednesday, January 09, 2008 5:46 PM
Fantastically put together and communicated. Easy to understand some of your complex ideas. I love how you dissected it all.

Politics is more than being the right person for the job. It’s also communicating the right ideas. I agree, Clinton connected to the people just before N.H. and became more appealing to them. Personally, I don’t like her ideas, but she actually came across as less cold.

Newt, can you review those who come in second as well as the number one ones?

Thanks!

June

A thoughtful, insightful, and very balanced review of the recent events in Iowa and N.H. A real political historian giving real-time historical perspectives!
