Jindal receives endorsement from Gingrich
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich publicly endorsed Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal yesterday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
Gingrich provided his support for the governor’s quest to potentially become Republican presidential nominee John McCain’s vice president in the upcoming general election.
Jindal has served in the U.S. House of Representatives for three years and as Louisiana’s governor for approximately six months, according to the Carpetbagger Report.
The Louisiana governor is viewed in the political world as an extremely conservative individual who supports people making decisions for themselves.
Gingrich addressed the fact that the highly regarded Jindal is only 37 years old by counter-attacking, comparing the governor’s experience with that of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama.
“The case can be made that Jindal’s experience in the executive branch and in the legislative branch is greater than that of Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama,” said Gingrich on “Face the Nation” yesterday.

I am very disappointed with Jindal. He is being held hostage by some of our politician and he is giving in. Apparently he lost his backbone to fight for what is right. If he doesn't veto the pay raise he doesn't get another vote from me and if there is a recall petition I WILL sign it.

I've been hearing on all the radio talk shows and reading in our local papers, here in Louisiana, that a petition is in the works to recall Gov. Bobby Jindal if he doesn't veto, as he promised during his campaign for governor, the HUGE pay raise the legislature passed for themselves.

I think the Governor Jindel is correct in postponing a pay increase untill after the next election. To be able to get qualified candidates to run for office they must be compensated. this would be one way to make sure the ones initiating the pay raise would have to be elected to receive it.

In today's Advocate Newspaper out of Baton Rouge, LA, it was reported that when Bobby Jindal campaigned last year for Governor of Louisiana, he promised voters he would stop legislators from approving a pay raise for themselves that took effect immediately. His promise was even printed in one of his campaign brochures, according to the news article. The article goes on to say that Jindal is preparing to let legislation become law that would do just that, a $20,700-year increase in their base pay. This increase makes their compensation package nearly $60,000 a year - up from about $35,000 today, the newspaper said. The Advocate printed that Jindal's campaign literature stated: "Any increase in salary approved by the Legislature should take effect after the next election so the public can decide who deserves that compensation." Jindal did not respond Tuesday to four requests to discuss his current statements and his earlier campaign pledge, according to the Advocate. So, would you say that Bobby Jindal is a man of his words? As I said before, Louisiana Politics, Same Old, Same Old. Senator McCain should think long and hard before choosing Bobby Jindal for VP. People in Louisiana are mighty upset!! Cynthia Brown

I sure hope Senator McCain does NOT choose our governor, Bobby Jindal to be his VP. The legislature just voted themselves a BIG FAT RAISE that will start in two weeks. We couldn't even get a tax break until 2010!!! It's the SAME OLD, SAME OLD Old Boy Politics here in Louisiana. Bobby Jindal is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. He promised reform and nothing has changed. I believe Mitt Romney is the better choice. He has better name recognition, is experienced and could possibly help electorally.
