LLS1174. How has he begun to alienate his conservative base? I've read nothing but positives on him as it relates to conservatisim.

I think it’s time for Bob to retire. He’s becoming lazy. His focus on groups using a landside election and one lost was revealing. It’s the continuing effort of the media trying to frame the agenda for the GOP. Conservative ideals and principals are historically accepted by all eventually. Liberty is something desired by all people and can only be realized through smaller government. It’s the GOP’s recent focus on garnering support from select groups or voting blocks, by compromising the conservative platform, that has contributed to the their decline. It’s what the dems do. We need only stand by those principles as they apply to America and Americans, not Hispanics, or gays, or, on and on and on…….

Well, I have to tell you, that as a proud Independent, I was leaning towards McCain - UNTIL he picked Palin. That turned me off to McCain. Not only did that pick turn me off to McCain, I lost all respect for him. I think a lot of other folks were also turned off by the inexperienced and inept Palin. Her interviews with Couric just firmed up my beliefs that she is woefully unqualified to be President. Now, if the republicans want to continually push away independents and moderates, then keep on picking inexperienced hard-core conservatives with nothing to offer. We are concerned with record high foreclosures, rising unemployment, 2 trillion dollar debt, selling assests to China, 2 wars. And the republicans insist on fighting cultural wars.

I agree. Sarah Palin deserves more respect from Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Jindal. I did not appreciate the way she was treated by the RGA and the comments made on Face the Nation. All Republicans need to be supportive of each other. It appears that you are either jealous or petty.

Newt, why don't you team up again with Dick Armey, two great forces in America, get the American Solutions program out there. You have the statistics, you have the know how, just do it!

I did not see the Face the Nation interview with Mr. Gingrich and Gov. Jindal. However, as a resident of the State of Louisiana, I was a supporter of Gov. Jindal. Since being in office he has begun to alienate his conservative base. The main conservative talk show host in the state left the Republican party following the election. High school and college graduates are the main contributions that Louisiana makes to the country. Hopefully, there will be some improvements. I realize that he does not have much to work with as far as the state legislature goes. He only vetoed the legislature pay raises after recall petitions were file against him by citizens. To follow Gov. Jindal's work in Louisiana, you can check out these sites: www.moongriffon.com, forgotston.com, and www.thedeadpelican.com.

I have been pro Newt and pro Jindal for quite some time. However the Face the Nation interview was a big disappointment. Both gave the appearance of dancing all around in a poorly camouflaged attempt to avoid using the word "Palin". This seems to be an extension of the Republican Governors' envy and rudeness toward Governor Palin. Sarah Palin has earned the respect and enthusiasm of a substantial number of Republicans and she deserves to be treated better than that. But such does not seem to be the way of the GOP beltway elite.

I'm I the only idiot that knows that the current world wide market problem is because oil went to $140 a barrel? For a year Americans were filling their gas tanks on credit in hopes that gas would be more affordable.

After 10 months or so people had to chose between fuel , food or the mortgage.

America needs the Volt and other electric powered cars whick means we need coal, nuclear, natural gas and wind energy.

By JMann @ Sunday, November 16, 2008 8:44 PM
Newt I'm confused that you don't see that the future of the Republican Party is the libertarian, freedom movement of Reagan, Sanford and Palin. Not the big government multi-gobbleleigook bs that Jindal was kissing ass to on Face The Nation today

By JMann @ Sunday, November 16, 2008 8:20 PM
I would think Newt understands media and that Jindal wearing a collar way to big for him vs. Palin that will sign a 7 million dollar book contract. D'oh who do you try and influence? Palin needs Newt's smarts behind her but in an apparent lack of judgment Newt is backing Jindal.

Ahum, Newt how much money has the kiss ass Jindal brought into the system? How much more money can you (and Palin) make if you get behind the Alaskan-libertarian-Republican movement? Instead of the Jindal?

By JMann @ Sunday, November 16, 2008 8:08 PM
I was a little disappointed in Newt and Jindal today on Face The Nation. Newt had his chance in 2008 to be the conservative in the race and Jindal is a good speaker but both of them were trying to marginalize Palin. If these guys don't see Palin's strengths and don't understand that a Governor from Alaska has a solid libertarian backbone they are fooling themselves.

I don't know where this notion that Palin is a right winger came from but it isn't true. Palin is a bulldog just like Newt and very much unlike Jindal who looks likes W and McCain. Could Jindal kissed more ass on Face The Nation today?

Palin isn't this right wing conservative that McCain made her out to be. Palin is a libertarian-Republican that is the future of the Sanford/Palin Republicans.

Jindal is a big government Republican that expects the Feds to bail him out of hurricanes and Palin is a small government free market Republican

I just haad a brillant idea. Auto industry says they will cause more losses if they go down. How about we bail-out the parts manufactuers while GM goes into chapter 11. :) that way there won't be many job losses.

By butler309 @ Sunday, November 16, 2008 3:27 AM
I hope Newt can come up with a new
contract for America like he did in 1994
and can get the RNC to promote starting now,he nneds the support of all us Republicans and to get the independents
in this country, we have four years and the time is now to start and we need to get behind only one presidental candidate who will win,My wife and I hope it will be Palin or may be Jindel

By For_The_Gipper @ Saturday, November 15, 2008 6:24 PM
So I flip on CNN and see Jenifer Palmeri from American think progress. I think that is a Democratic think tank.

You know that is a good idea we could use some more conservative think tank.

Jennifer goes "Where is Newt? You would expect Newt to step forward with a conservative agenda for the Republicans." Then the rest of the commentators basically go on about where is that ol Newt.

I wonder that myself.coughnewtforrncchaircough. Maybe we will hear Newt announce newt for rnc on cbs sunday. Heh FOX would be POed if you announced on CBS and not FOX.

Anyhow will watch face the nation and see. There is still plenty of time for 2010.

HILLARY CLINTON SEC OF STATE!! I AM SO EXCITED I ALMOST HAD TO WILLINGLY SUSPEND DISBELIEF :) I really like the back and forth of politics, it feels like you are on a footall team. I am still hedging my bets Obama will rule from the left.

Man I really love Jindall. The more I see of him the more I am impressed. I wonder if Obama will even do any interviews with FOX as President?

I must say all this Obama lip service is painful. I can't wait for the honeymoon to be over.

Hear is praying Newt runs fr RNC chair. Well I just want the best person for it. Qute frankly Michael Steeles record isn't that impressive. A Lt Governor and a failed Senate race. The other people I have never heard of.

I am not sure my thoughts on Duncan. Since Republicans asked about Obams inernet campign even I have to admit it was impressive.

What I noticed he did was if you have a question about polling place or anything he would have a LIVE REPRESINTIVE respond to you and get you the information you needed. Obama also had the poll places and always always beg for you to get out to vote.

McCain had nothing for you to contact the camp lol.

Anyway Obama is doing his radio address on youtube. Republicans could counter this. All you have to do is be clever and cool.

My response would be like this do you want your money when you get out of college to go to GM or yould you rather it go to a car young people actually drive? Toyota.

Would you rather that $50 bucka go on a new video game or rahter it get taken in taxes.

Hell you could target Laionos just put in Espnaol and talk issues hispanic care about.

Throw in some Death Metal music or something. Hell you could even turn it into a mini movie.

The return of Barackula, I want to suck your taxes!

OK OK those where bad ideas but you get the gest of it just be creative.

I would even throw in some
