Gingrich Argues in Favor of 'Green Conservatism'
One News Now
August 15, 2009
OneNewsNow caught up with Gingrich in Washington, DC, and asked him if he believes alleged "manmade climate change" is an issue. "I'm not at all convinced on climate change," he responded.
Gingrich added that he does not support cap-and-trade legislation -- legislation that opponents say could cripple the economy through heavy energy taxes. But he does believe the environment is important.
"I'm perfectly happy to say that the environment is important enough that we have to have a dialogue about it," he concludes. "I wrote a book called A Contract with the Earth...making the argument for a green conservatism -- and I'm happy to debate liberals about whether conservatives have better solutions to the environment anytime."
