At a Capitol Hill press conference with Members of Congress working to make Speaker Pelosi allow a vote on an "all of the above" energy solution for America, Speaker Gingrich delivers a message of thanks and encouragement on behalf of the 1.4 million Americans who have signed the "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" petition.

This press conference happened this morning before members of Congress took to the House floor once again to press Speaker Pelosi to simply allow a vote. Watch:



The press event was great, lots of media ("throngs" one could say) showed up and several dozen tourists crowded the halls to get a glimpse, many applauding as the former Speaker made his way to the dais the House members that are still in town.

It was mentioned by one of the Representatives speaking that the Obama plan for a windfall tax on oil profits does not tax or punish the Russians or Saudis or Venezuelans -- it only punishes American companies employing American workers. All it means is less American oil and more overseas oil.

While Newt spoke, a couple Pelosi staffers circulated a one page sheet among the audience "10 questions for the House GOP on Energy" which American Solutions will have a response to shortly. One myth which has been utterly shattered is that drilling now won't lower prices now.

So the momentum is now rolling on for this effort to tell Speaker Pelosi to allow an up or down vote NOW on drilling our oil. Newt's press conference was well covered by FOX, CBS, CSPAN, and MSNBC among others.

Finally, the speaking on the House floor begin as a regular session might begin in the House, with the pledge and a prayer said. Today was the best attended day yet, much of the seats on the floor and in the gallery were packed from the start with some of the loudest applause yet. It truly is a site to witness -- if you can make it down or know someone who lives nearby, encourage them to come on down. The momentum is only yet building and we are not done. We want the most American thing possible: a simple vote.
