In the wake of the revelation that Iran has built a secret nuclear facility, it is worth remembering that in late 2007, the DNI’s National Intelligence Estimate on Iran said confidently that the country had stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003.
Of course, many keen observers, Newt included pointed out that the report was intellectually indefensible and seemed deliberately designed to undermine the Bush administration at the expense of our nation’s security. And it looks like they’ve been proven right.
