| Are you as sick as I am of government speed, or rather its lack of speed? I’m Newt Gingrich, more in a moment. Rear Admiral Eugene Fluckey and his crew had a motto that perfectly captures the spirit of America. They used to say, quote, we don’t have problems, just solutions. America still has this same can-do spirit. More small businesses and scientific breakthroughs are produced in America than anywhere else in the world. But there’s a growing gap between what we expect from the private sector – the world that works – and what we expect from our government –the world that fails. The private sector is a constant source of innovation, creativity, and efficiency. Government has become an endless parade of waste and incompetence. So much so, that the rebuilding effort in New Orleans was recently characterized as “government speed.” Government speed. It’s time to demand more. After all, it wasn’t always this way. Consider - the transcontinental railroad was completed in six years. The 1.1 mile Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel in Zion National Park was completed in less than three years. So was the Manhattan Project to build the atomic bomb. Back then, government could deliver. I believe it can again. Go to www.americansolutions.com to find out how to move government from the world that fails to the world that works. I’m Newt Gingrich and together we can win the future.
